~ Statement ~ Following an enquiry., what you can expect: Pre-course information including details of what is expected on the client’s part, regarding their bike, helmet, costs and course terms and conditions. We do not believe in the ‘hard sell’ approach, therefore we will only contact you again, if you tell us that is what you want us to do. We generally only set up courses at your request and are flexible. Prior to the commencement of a course however, consent forms and terms of conditions must be agreed and signed. Again prior to the course taking place, both a static and dynamic risk assessment will be carried out. Any instructors working in partnership with the SW Instructors, are National Standards (Cycling) Teaching Accreditation, CRB Disclosure, hold CTC insurance and will confirm their identity with at least one, if not two forms of photo ID such as driving licence and passport. At the onset/during the course: The instructors carry hi-vis tabards for on road use, a suitable first aid kit, limited tools for things like adjustment of the height of saddles, a puncture repair kit/inner tube, mobile phone and emergency contact numbers of the group being trained. They will have been made aware of any difficulties any of the students have and/or any pre-disposing medical conditions that may affect their performance. Ensure all aspects of the module are adapted if required, so trainees will achieve the desired outcome for that level. Be on time and able to stay a little longer at the end if necessary. Involve the students when setting clear and achievable ground rules, asking them how they believe they should behave away from school. Our instructors reserve the right to return to school and/or refuse to take a student out if their behaviour puts the rest of the group in any danger. Presentation: Using open questions, encouraging the trainees to think for themselves Make the learning outcome and aims of the session clear at the beginning and debrief at the end, to check the trainees’ understanding of what they have just learned. Always expect the unexpected but involve the trainees at all times. Only one trainee will be riding at a time, the others will be on the pavement, awaiting their turn. There is always a second adult present and with any child who needs a little extra help, that extra carers are accompanied. Our instructors do not work alone. All aspects of safety is our No. 1 concern |
