Jon Williams (on the left) lives between Liskeard and Falmouth and hopefully will be going into his 2nd year as an FdSc Sports Science and Injury Management student, and of course, with cycling, being non weight bearing, is a wonderful form of rehabilitation.  Not everyone knows how to cycle., you’d be surprised how many adults are now learning to do so for the first time ……

He trained as an instructor and sometimes works with Bill Ward.  They were both students on the same Sports Science Access course as Wendy Creed (who heads up RSCT and is an Instructor Trainer) last year which is how they all know each other but now they have gone our chosen paths in terms of degrees, however still work together as part of a team and the bigger picture.  He is also hoping to do his CTC Mountain Bike Instructors course in the autumn, meanwhile he and Wendy are working their socks off together in both Cornwall and just across the border in Devon on the edge of Dartmoor.

Jon's approach to cycle training despite his age, is a very mature one but by the same token, both children and teenagers alike are able to identify with him so he has them eating out of the palm of his hand very quickly.

Bill Ward (on the right) comes from Penzance, which is still his home town., he's also hoping to become a 2nd year FdSc Outdoor Education student at Truro College, based at Tregye. His aim is to set up his own business when he is suitably qualified in a variety of sports but as a means of getting from A to B, what better mode of transport which is both healthy and environmentally friendly, than cycling. He hopes to be part of a cycling project at college in his second year which will form part of our work based learning.

Bill wants to go on and get more experience working with foundation students, so plans on working with Matt Wilmott, at his invitation as well, Matt being another person on the same instructor training course but is also a teacher at one of the special needs schools in Cornwall.

Both Bill and Jon are involved in the SW Instructors Co-operative and Bespoke Cycling Activities that Wendy has set up as per the information on the SW Instructors page.
